The bright laser dot. It used to be, it marked the immanent target. Not anymore. Like the smart IoT-style networked collection of information, simultaneously recording and uploading even as it collects, I foresee the effect of these weapons hard to disentangle from intent. If you see that dot, you may be looking not just at a target in the not-too-distant-future -- you may be seeing what happens to such targets in the oh-so-recent past...
